The Beauty And Origin Of Moissanite

The appearance of natural Moissanite on the planet is associated with the fall of a meteorite. In 1893, Henri Moissan, a French chemist and Nobel Prize winner, was trying to learn more about the meteorite’s fragments located in Arizona.

That is where he found a brand new mineral that consisted of silicon carbide. About 12 years later, this mineral was named Moissanite – pure and transparent with unique indicators of light dispersion, that is, the scattering of light rays.

Unfortunately the natural reserves of the precious stone in nature is so rare, which lead to the cultivation of silicon carbide crystals in artificial conditions. The value and characteristics of the processed Moissanite do not differ from the parameters of natural Moissanite from the once fallen meteorite.

The result lead to Moissanite that is perfect and pure with unmatched play of colours, also sometimes known as “stardust” or “space diamonds”.

Most Brilliant Gem

Brilliance is the amount of light reflected back to your eye. In measure terms, Moissanite has a 3% higher shine than diamonds. Its surface toughness can also withstand much higher temperatures than diamonds

Best Durability and Strength

The practical use of Moissanite shows that it has the best parameters for durability and strength – even on hardness where Moissanite concedes to diamonds, with 9.25 against 10 Mohs, it does not affect its durability in any way

Environmental Friendly

Our eco-friendly, lab-grown Moissanite stones come in a variety of shapes and sizes and takes us closer to reducing our environmental impact on earth. You can feel assured that our stones had no negative impact on nature or on human rights

Exceptional Purity

The absence of all kinds of inclusions, which at times are in natural diamonds, make Moissanite the preferred choice for jewellers due to the exceptional purity and colour characteristics it provides

Perfect Design

Moissanite is very affordable with many impressive qualities and attractive rewards. The reality is, buying a Moissanite does not degrade your love or quality of your relationship. If you look past diamond messages, you will find that Moissanite is a better fit overall

How Is Moissanite Made

Moissanite is made from Silicon and Carbon. These elements are combined in a lab through pressure and heat using a thermal growing process to create Silicon Carbide (SiC). The carbon bonds within the mineral provide its strength. The reason natural Moissanite is rare is because silicon carbide is scarcely found in nature anymore.

Growing Moissanite is a long and complicated process, and limits the amount of Moissanite that can be produced at any given time. It takes two to three months to create a single lab grown Moissanite gemstone. Moissanite has gemological properties that are generally closer to those of diamond, and some optical properties even exceed those of diamond.

Moissanite is then cut and polished in order to maximize brilliance. The cutting specifications for Moissanite jewellery are designed to maximize the fire inherent in the material. To harness the light reflecting from a faceted Moissanite jewel, it require the design of shapes with proportions and angles unlike any other jewel.

Furthermore, due to its specific properties, Moissanite does not dull or cloud over time. You can rest assured that it will keep its brilliance and other properties.

Having all these factors in mind, one can understand why Moissanite is the choice for so many. Forever…for you!
